Textual Analysis of Q magazine.
Q magazine is published by an institution called Bauer Media. The magazine is published monthly and costs £3.50. In addition to this, Q has a radio station which was launched in June 2008, alongside this Q also holds their very own awards show. Therefore this firm are extremely involved in all types of media and find this as a key element in interesting the readers. The total circulation for Q magazine is 80418.
The magazine looks very attractive and appealing to the targetted audience which is presumably for mature music lovers, instead of young teenagers because of the colours used. The background consisting of a black colour; is an indicator as to who the target audience might be.The magazine looks very compact and has an ideal appearance of a magazine just like the two other magazines. The magazine mentions that there is an interview with Madonna meaning that the maagzine has had the opportunity to sit down and actually talk to her. Something that not many magazines get the chance to do.
The magazine has also issued a free music collection CD to persuade you to buy the magazine. In addition to this the word 'Free' is in black, bold capital letters to attract your attention and persude you more and buy the magazine. An image has been placed, beside the text to let you see what the CD looks like. To add to this, a barcode has been used to give some authority to the cover jsut like the other two covers.
The subheading beneath the heading 'Madonna' , taboo language has been used to shock the reader and alert the readers to the drastic change, in how a magazine portrays the company. The size of font used is not very big, which could mean that this is not a majorly depicted in the magazine.
Madonna looks very sinister, mischievous and slightly serious suggesting that the magazine may not be as vibrant, bright and colourful as the two other magazine. A medium shot, has been taken of Madonna. If we, the readers look at Madonna from any direction you will notice that she seems to look straight at us. Therefore, this can also add to our decison to buy the magazine. Her name 'Madona' has been centered on the page and is in a big font size to make us see this first and influence us the readers to look inside and then purchase the magazine.
