Textual Analysis of Magazine Cover.

Common Sense-The cover page includes a masthead, reading out the word ‘Common Sense’.  This gives a positive impression to readers, because it’s an unusual name for a magazine. The magazine gives out a different vibe to readers, bright and vibrant colours have also been used to make the magazine appealing to the target audience. Above the masthead  ‘FREE’ has been spelt to signify to the reader that you do not have to pay for it, therefore you can get access a copy of magazine without thinking of where allocate this. A date has been issued at the top of the page to give the magazine authority and power. The only text  that has been placed on the front cover are topics that take place in everyday life  situations such as driving, teen pregnancies and financial dilemmas- budgets. These are all cover lines. Therefore this signifies to us that that the producers care about the public’s well being and safety. The photograph is in black and white whereas the text surrounding the image is in colour making the girl stand out , in addition to this a midium close up shot has been taken. She looks intriguing and also looks off the page in a way, which makes us curious about her. The biggest cover line has been written infront on top of the photograph telling us that there is a link between the photogragh and Gareth Jones.
